What does AMH tell you – and what does it not?

AMH shows how many egg cells are still present in your ovaries, and is the best-studied single marker for it. It says nothing about the quality of those egg cells, and it is not a pregnancy test for the future: women become pregnant even with low AMH, and it can still take time even with high AMH. The value is useful for two questions: how much time you still have for family planning, and how your ovaries would respond to fertility treatment. For egg quality, your age remains the most important factor. As a standalone fertility score, AMH therefore doesn't work.
